Design Philosophy

Wood has a range of colours, grains and finished lustre and when it is combined with a precision engineered mechanical movement, and transformed into a quality piece of furniture, it becomes a functional and enchanting acquisition and a treasure to appreciate.

Wall Clocks

Clocks & Chimes design philosophy regarding it's wall clocks is to look at traditional styles of Vienna Regulators (long-case wall clocks), which have given pleasure to previous generations, and to translate their qualities and appeal into contemporary looks that will compliment the modern home, office or reception area.

In bringing these designs to life and achieve a contemporary appearance, a combination of wood, glass and inlays is used. The wood throughout the construction of the clock cases is solid hardwoods from sustainable British sources and the glass panels are 4mm foat glass; these superior cases are complemented with the finest engineered movements, from German manufacturers who are leaders in their field. In combining the beauty of natural woods, inlays and glass together with a precision engineered mechanical movement, a clock is produced that maintains excellent time and is of a finished quality, which is a delight to look at and a pleasure to own.

Furthermore, at around 1m in height (approx 3ft), a Clocks & Chimes wall clock sits comfortably in today's modern home, as well as any business office or reception area, as a beautiful and elegant piece of furniture; and for those searching for that ever elusive "relaxation", the regular swing of the pendulum and the subtle sound of the mechanical movement tend to have a soothing influence on the observer.

Desk Clocks

Clocks & Chimes design philosophy for desk clocks is to utilise the inherent elements of a particular piece of hardwood, such as: its grain, its colours and particularly any organic shape it has.

The result is a natural wooden clock case that is attractive as well as tactile, finished with oils and Beeswax to provide a look of quality and a satin smooth feel; into which is placed a miniature clock with a quartz movement, producing a unique and individual gift suitable for any occasion.
